Celebrities contribute for disaster victims

- By Rajesh Maharjan Kathmandu, August 14, 2017 With the monsoon playing havoc in many parts of the nation, causing loss of life and property, Nepali celebrities have made a financial contribution to assist the disaster victims. The comedian duo, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, on Sunday announced a donation of Rs. 100,000 to the flood and landslide victims. Madan Krishna Shrestha made this announcement via the duo’s social media site, Facebook, that they would provide monetary assistance to the flood victims. They have also co-ordinated with different organisations and to raise money for the victims; have also requested all Nepalis to offer whatever they can to the disaster victims. Another comedian couple, Deepak Raj Giri and Deepa Shree Niraula,also announced they would assist the flood victims with Rs. 100,000. The couple made the announcement through their Facebook group account- Men’s Room Reloaded. The members of Men’s Room Reloaded have also been collecting clothes and monetary assistance for the victims through their Facebook page. Deepa Shree has also donated Rs. 51,000 to the disaster victims through the Morang Society, of which she is a member. Actress Priyanka Karki has also made a contribution of Rs. 51,000 to the flood victims. Meanwhile, the “Ma Yesto Geet Gauchhu” actress,Pooja Sharma, has made a commitment to assist the disaster victims with Rs. 1 00,000. Actress Sharma said that she would hand over her donation personally after visiting the flood-hit areas. “Due to persistent bad weather and despite hardships,They could be traveling to the flood-hit areas very shortly. Likewise, another veteran comedian Sita Ram katel and Kunjana Ghimire from their Dhurmus Suntali Foundation have already reached in hit areas for assistance.
